OTIS RAY REDDING  was born in Dawson Georgia on September 9,1941 to gospel singer
OTIS REDDING SR, and housekeeper FANNIE REDDING ,OTIS Father worked as a 
sharecropper, then at Robins Air Force Base and as a part time preacher,
When OTIS was three, The family moved to Tildall Heights,a predominantly black public housing
project in nearby Macon , At the age of 15 OTIS abandoned school to help his family financially, His father had contracted tuberculosis and was often hospitalized,
Leaving his mother as the family`s primary financial provider .OTIS later worked as a well digger ,gas station attendant and guest musician, In 1958, OTIS joined Johnny Jenkins band ,

The Pinetoppers and touredthe southern United States as driver and musician,        
     
An unscheduled appearance ona stax recording session led to a contract and OTIS first

single,THESE ARMS OF MINE, In 1962 stax released OTIS debut album, PAIN IN MY HEART, The rest is history!!!
